Light peat, brown sugar and orange on the nose leads to smooth burnt toffee taste, with softer citrus and coffee on the finish.uk accepts no liability for inaccuracies or misstatements about products by manufacturers or other third parties. This exceptional single malt matures in American white oak ex-bourbon and hand-selected American Rye barrels, imparting depth and complexity. Finish Still fruity, the woody spice picks up with prickles of warming pepper, balanced by sweet, nutty caramel. Welcome to Jura: A few miles off the west coast of Scotland you'll find our island: remote, sometimes wild, yet always beautiful, home to 212(ish) islanders, one road, one pub and one distillery. This Jura Rare Vintage, distilled on 11th April 1989, captures the diverse character of our island home.

Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon and hand selected American Rye barrels, the casks deliver depth and complexity to this 14 year old Single Malt with layered spice, aromatic, herbal and floral qualities. I too was not sure at first but soon realised that this has a lot to offer in terms of smell and taste and has a fairly long finish. Our distillery was established in 1810 and reborn in 1963 to bring life back to the island and the community. It has the subtle smoke characteristic of Jura's excellent Island single malts, with robust vanilla and an intense kick of sherried sweetness underneath. The Jura 18 Year Old single malt has been matured in American white oak barrels, and is enriched by time spent in French oak wine casks from a Premier Grand Cru Classe Bordeaux producer.

With water it was much smoother, very chocolatey, hints of coffee and black pepper again after a while. It now runs at a capacity of 2,200,000 litres per year under the watch of current owners Whyte and Mackay Ltd. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Nose Zesty wafts of fresh lemon peel and candied orange open things up followed by mint leaves and blossom.

The new distillery's architect was William Delmé-Evans, who had previously been involved with Tullibardine and later went on to build Glenallachie. Winding through lush countryside and tracing the shores, it truly is a beautifully scenic route to our distillery. It really does take a while due to the ever changing flavours which start off full of fruit but then settle into a deeper, pepper taste which compliments the fruit perfectly. As though someone has taken the flavour concentrate of a Highland whisky and added it to some colouring and a very immature light yellow whisky.Explore an array of rich and warm toasted flavours inspired by the winding single road revealing the rugged beauty of Jura. With less than 200 people living on the island, it's at the heart of their community and sits in the middle of Craighouse, the island's biggest town. Jura is Norse for “deer island” and on the Hebridean island of Jura the red deer outnumber the human residents by about thirty to one. Sweet caramelised nuts, juicy tropical fruits, buttery vanilla, crisp spiced apple with fragrant cinnamon and oak char. The whisky was laid down in a single Refill Hogshead, patiently maturing for 30 years, before being bottled in Febuary 2023.
