I chose this book because I love Tracy Beaker and Jacqueline Wilson and would recommend this highly as a reader. I hope that more books about Jess might be written because Jess is very similar to me and has a nice and fun character.

Jess and Tracy are living a hand-to-mouth existence on a tough housing estate, but Tracy meets up with someone from her past and their whole lives are turned upside down. As a teenager she started work for a magazine publishing company and then went on to work as a journalist on Jackie magazine (which she was told was named after her! I loved revisiting all of these old characters again in modern setting and seeing how life has changed after we turned that final page all those years ago. One of Jacqueline’s most successful and enduring creations has been the famous Tracy Beaker, who first appeared in 1991 in The Story of Tracy Beaker. The cliffhangers at the end of each episode, the romance and the Justine/Tracy beef were all there in spades. But when Tracy reveals she has a new boyfriend, Jess is far from pleased: despite the fact that he spoils her rotten when in fact all Jess wants is love from her Mum.

We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Now Tracy Beaker is a mum, and this marvellous tale, narrated by her daughter Jess, introduces the spirited character to a new generation of readers. I'd say while I enjoyed it for the nostalgia, I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed in parts, and like I've mentioned the series and book continuity, feeling since it was meant to follow the book rather than the original series made things a little confusing and incongrouous, like it shouldn't have been canon with the series but obviously was supposed to be. Overall, if you were a Tracy Beaker fan back in the day and are kind of curious about My Mum Tracy Beaker, I'd say watch it!Apparently there was also a show following an older Tracy, now working at the Dumping Ground (the childrens home she grew up in) but I don't think that aired in New Zealand. And she's lost none of her fire - my favourite scene in the adaptation was when Tracy storms down to the school on the bounce, when she thinks Jess is being bullied. Adrian Harrington began trading in 1971, as part of Harrington Brothers in the Chelsea Antiques Market on London's fashionable King's Road. Tracey was depressed when they split up, as would be expected, but I kept waiting for Tracey, or Cam or Jess to point out that he was a seriously nasty piece of work and Tracey deserved to be treated like a human being by a partner.
