The finally bonus extra to be found on the first disc has Frodo and Merry messing about in this short parody. The culmination of the vast and varied features of this extended edition results in a longer, deeper and more detailed journey into Middle-earth than before. The epic scale is incomparible and the sheer beauty of these films is so unique and awe inspiring that they should be considered as the highest standard, the ten out of ten, the top dog of epic films.

As for the colour (color) issue - it didn't bother me as the changes seemed minor in respect to the long length of the films, and the 'feel' of only some of the scenes.Next up is the section Filming Middle Earth, which has two sections: Warriors of the Third Age (21 min. Not that you’d notice, unless you were a) a massive fan or b) watching the two Blu-rays simultaneously for cross-comparison – but that doesn’t detract from the fact that there has been a change.

From the merry life of the shire to the eerie whispering of the ring to the ugliness of Saruman's snarling, growling army of orcs, the entire range of effects is treated with stalwart fidelity. Fans of the Blu-ray format know just what it is truly capable of: the new Picture-in-Picture tracks, Video Commentaries and so forth really bringing out the best of the technology. Our review of The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy Extended Edition on Blu-ray follows after the jump.A journey that will cross the whole of Middle Earth, with every inhabitant affected by the crusade of the few, the proud, the Fellowship of the Ring. Each film in this collection features new and extended scenes not seen in the theatrical versions of the films.

The majority of the new additions aren't to his, Frodo (Elijah Wood), and Gollum/Smeagol's (Andy Serkis) journey, but to the others. Middle-earth is brought to life in these Special Extended Editions of the Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy. For the area entitled “Visual Effects”, there's a section for the miniature work, with the featurette titled “Big-atures” (22 min. But in finally seeing the sequence, it's easy to see why it was excised; though it caps off two characters who were prominent in the last film, their fates don't really advance the plot that much and the movie already has too much to cover before the battle for Minis Tirith. Speaking of colors, pre-release Internet buzz indicated that parts of the film were retimed and given a heavier green orientation.

Its impossible not to be entertained by these films, each one of them delivers us into an astoundingly realistic and beautiful world where it is very easy to get lost in.

They bought the DVDs of the three movies when they first came out, then the trilogy box set, then the extended editions, limited editions, extended trilogy, and finally, in April of 2010, the long-awaited Blu-ray edition. There the fellowship is formed, and the journey begins, which leads them to the mines of Moira, and eventually the dissolution of the fellowship. Tolkien thought that his trilogy could never be filmed, partly because timelines overlap in different books; stories in Two Towers have parallel action in King.

The Packaging for this Blu-ray was conceived in close collaboration with the filmmakers and artists and includes conceptual sketches throughout. The extended editions were also released on Blu-Ray as a box set in June 2011 [1], while the theatrical Blu-Ray was released as a box set in September 2010. In the middle chapter of this historic movie trilogy, the Fellowship is broken, but its quest to destroy the One Ring continues. As mentioned before, the images on these discs show a marked improvement over last year's initial Blu-ray release. However, assuming that this isn’t a Gladiator-size mistake on the part of Jackson and the studios, it’s only fair to conclude that this is a step up from the previous presentation, and deserves a just-about demo-quality rating all-round.
